Why I Built a Free DJ Tracklist Creator

Every DJ knows this moment: the set is recorded, the mix sounds exactly how you wanted it to sound... and now comes the part nobody enjoys. Formatting the tracklist.

If you run a weekly show, that moment comes back every single week. GALACTICA airs every Tuesday, which means every week I need the same thing: a clean, numbered tracklist — artist, track, remix, label — formatted consistently for SoundCloud, YouTube, the episode archive on this website, and 1001Tracklists.

The music takes one hour. The formatting used to take almost as long. The raw material never arrives in a usable state. Sometimes it is a playlist export with columns in the wrong order. Sometimes it is a text file where half the tracks have the label in brackets and half do not. Different sources, different formats — and every platform expects something slightly different at the other end.

What it does

DJ Tracklist Creator takes whatever you throw at it — a playlist export, pasted text, even a screenshot — and turns it into a clean, numbered tracklist. Line after line, ready to paste anywhere.

The part I use most is the image extraction. Instead of retyping from my DJ software, I take a screenshot of the playlist, drop it in, and the tracklist comes out as text.

Why it is free

Because this problem is not mine — it is every DJ's. Anyone running a podcast, a radio show, a YouTube channel or a mix archive fights the same formatting battle every week.

Consistent tracklists are not just aesthetics, by the way. A properly formatted tracklist is how the artists and labels you play get discovered.
